Principal's Message

Dear Sunnycrest families/Queridas familias de Sunnycrest,

Welcome to Sunnycrest! We are so happy to have you join our school community. Sunnycrest is a language learning school! Between our Dual Language Spanish program and the amount of families who speak another language besides English at home, our time in our building is centered around celebrating and growing our language abilities!

To support our diverse community, we have both a Spanish speaking Family Liaison (Mrs. Encinas) and an Afghan Family Liaison who speaks Dari and Pashto (Mr. Almas). Both our Principal and Assistant Principal are multilingual, so if you need Mandarin, English, Spanish, please see Mrs. Schottle, and for English/Spanish, please connect with Mrs. Muñoz. Our counseling team of Mrs. Nuñez and Ms. Romero also are able to connect with families in Spanish as well!

Back to School Supplies

This school year FWPS will continue to provide basic school materials for every child in the classroom and at school. These items include pencils, erasers, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils, folders, and notebooks. Please hold on to any back to school supplies you acquire for use at home. If you are looking to provide additional supplies for your child, please make sure they have a backpack and water bottle with their names on it to bring daily. If your child opts to bring their lunch, please help them make sure their lunch bag is also labeled.

School Meals

Thanks to Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) all students are able to receive breakfast and lunch regardless of free or reduced status. Meal applications are still needed for us to submit information that qualifies for us to continue this program. Starting this year, all meals will also offer a halal option.

Technology

Thanks to the recent technology levy, every classroom has a computer cart that allows all scholars to access technology during the school day. Additionally, teachers have access to email and Parent Square (our new communication platform), so if you need to reach your child, please call the office, their classroom line, or communicate through Parent Square. This way, students can keep technology devices off at school to prevent further distractions from learning. This is why students are not allowed to use their cell phones or iPad during the school day, especially for social media or gaming purposes.

Arrival and Dismissal

Please note, this year we will be switching the bus and car pick up loops. This will help our traffic flow so that buses can arrive and depart on time, and we have less car traffic impeding neighborhood traffic. We will share detailed maps and directions on how this change will go, so please see information coming soon for further instructions. We will also teach and show families on our Back to School night event!

Breakfast Procedure

When kids arrive in the morning, they’ll enter the building from the double doors on the side of the school called our “Yellow Doors.” Students will get breakfast from the cafeteria or will line up outside classrooms with a book to read until class begins.

Right At School

For families who need childcare, our partners Right At School offers before/after school care beginning August 30 from 6:30 am - 9:00 am and 3:40 pm - 6:00 pm.
